Contrary to the sensationalized reports, the Lebanese Embassy in Ghana has clarified the situation regarding the supposed presence of Sunil Waghmare, the Indian Guinness World Record holder, at Akwaaba Village to congratulate Afua Asantewaa for breaking his record.
During the event, Afua received an overwhelming show of support from various celebrities and distinguished individuals. Among them, a fair-skinned man was seen in the singing booth, engaging in pleasant interactions with her. Moments later, several mainstream websites in Ghana, including the reputable GHOne TV, mistakenly identified this man as Sunil Waghmare, who had supposedly travelled from India to join in the celebration.
However, the Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Mr. Maher Kheir, has clarified that these reports are inaccurate. On Thursday, December 28, 2023, H.E. Mr. Maher Kheir visited the Akwaaba Village to extend significant support to Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, a Ghanaian entrepreneur and journalist, in her record-breaking attempt.
Photographs and videos captured H.E. Mr. Maher Kheir’s presence at the event, demonstrating the support of the Lebanese community in Ghana for Afua Asantewaa. His Excellency Mr. Maher Kheir also celebrated Afua Asantewaa for the successful completion of her attempt, describing it as a show of “dedication and perseverance.”
“His Excellency Mr. Maher Kheir extends his congratulations to Mrs. Aduonum on her official attempt at the current record. Her achievement serves as an inspiration, demonstrating the power of dedication and perseverance.
The Embassy further urged the Ghanaian media house to take notice of the correction and make the necessary corrections. “We appreciate all Ghanaian media houses’ attention to this correction and look forward to continuing the strong relationship between Lebanon and Ghana.
