Stonebwoy Paid GHC169,000, Not GHC 70,000—Sam George Blows NSA’s Cover

In a recent interview with Dwaso Nsem on Adom FM, Sam George, the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, disclosed that Stonebwoy had paid a substantial amount of GHC 170,000 to the National Sports Authority (NSA) to secure the Accra Sports Stadium for his 5th Dimension Concert held on December 22, 2023.

During the interview, Sam George mentioned that he had received information from an insider regarding a portion of the contract between Stonebwoy and the NSA, headed by  Peter Twumasi.

This revelation came about as he questioned why the pitch of the Accra Sports Stadium remained in poor condition despite the money supposedly allocated for its repair after the major concerts that the stadium was used for during the christmas, particularly the Bhim concert.

Furthermore, Sam George stated that he was provided with evidence of the receipt showing that Stonebwoy had paid a total of 169,000, contrary to the NSA’s claim that he had only paid GHC 70,000.

Stonebwoy’s manager confirms they paid more than GH₵70,000 to NSA

Meanwhile, in an interview with Hitz FM, Chief Abiola, the manager of Ghanaian artiste Stonebwoy, revealed that his artiste had paid more than GH₵70,000 to the National Sports Authority (NSA).

This contradicts the statement made by Peter Twumasi, the Director General of the NSA, during his appearance before the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament on Monday, February 5, 2024.

According to Twumasi’s account, Stonebwoy had paid GH₵70,000. However, Chief Abiola clarified that this amount was incorrect.

“To be very honest with you, these are contractual matters and usually I wouldn’t want to engage in a public space but the Public Accounts Committee is a very serious committee that, it got before the committee so I wouldn’t want to be here on radio to state otherwise.

“But what I can tell you clearly is that I was delegated by Stonebwoy to lead the charge in terms of doing the negotiations and payment of the stadium. I can also tell you for a fact that yes we paid more than GH₵70,000 for the stadium but I mean I am just watching the issues unfold so I wouldn’t want to disclose into detail for now. I hope you bear with me,” he said.

Peter Twumasi, the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) since 2018, has faced significant criticism for neglecting the maintenance of stadiums across the country.

He has faced severe backlash for allowing the Accra Sports Stadium to be rented out for concerts in December 2023.

During this period, the NSA declared that the stadium would not be available for sporting events, and clubs were instructed to seek alternative venues for their Ghana Premier League home games.
