Abronye Reveals Identity Of Police Officer Who Recorded Viral Dampare Tape
The Bono Regional chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party, Kwame Baffoe alias Abronye has revealed on Live radio that DSP Asante was allegedly the one who recorded the ‘conspiracy tape’ detailing how a group of police officers backed by politician Bugri Naabu were trying everything possible to oust the present Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare.
While in the studios of Pro-NPP station Wontumi Radio owned by Chairman Wontumi, known in real life as Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the present Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Abronye alleged that it was not Bugri Naabu who recorded the tape and leaked it, as he told the committee investigating the matter.
Abronye said it was actually DSP Asante (who he described as Dampare’s boy) who recorded the tape. He also said the tape was leaked by Dampare himself for public sympathy and made Justin Koduah unpopular. Watch the footage below which has the rest of the information premising this report.
Meanwhile during his appearance before the ad-hoc parliamentary committee investigating the matter on Friday, September 1, 2023, COP George Mensah, the main antagonist in the matter alleged that the recording of the leaked tape was orchestrated by the IGP, who currently holds the original copy.
COP Mensah further expressed his belief that the audio currently under review by the parliamentary committee has been significantly altered. In response to the committee’s inquiry regarding the location of the original recording, COP Mensah directed them to Dr. Dampare, as he is in possession of the original copy.
“My intel suggests that what was used to tape the conversation was done by the current IGP. He sent some people to do it and after which he went for it and so the tape, from my intel is with the IGP, and he caused it to be leaked and so if this committee wants the tape, then it should contact the IGP for it.”
