Highlife legend Gyedu Blay-Amboley has given his endorsement to Kofi Kinaata as the torchbearer of Highlife and Ghanaian music as a whole.
In a recent interview with Asaase Radio, Ambolley was asked to identify which current musician could produce a timeless song that would still be appreciated in the next decade.
Without hesitation, Ambolley mentioned Kinaata’s name, praising the young artist for possessing all the qualities of his predecessors in the Highlife genre.
Ambolley took the opportunity to criticize present-day artists who focus solely on creating danceable tunes that quickly fade away.
He urged them to learn to play musical instruments, be versatile, and create music that would withstand the test of time.
In other Kofi Kinaata news, the rapper and singer shifted his focus from entertainment to delve into the realm of politics, specifically addressing the reasons behind Ghana’s slow development despite its vast reserves of mineral resources in a recent interview.
While talking to GHOne’s Lily Mohammeed, the Kinaata highlighted how politicians manipulate the public, regardless of their party affiliation.
He also expressed concern over the prioritization of party loyalty over national patriotism among the majority of individuals.
