Assin North By-Election Indicates NDC’s Victory In 2024 General Elections – Sammy Gyamfi

James Gyakye Quayson’s resounding victory over New Patriotic Party candidate, Charles Opoku in the Assin North by-election indicates NDC victory in the general elections in 2024, according to National Communications Officer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi.

In Sammy Gyamfi’s opinion, the Assin North by-election served as more of an assessment of the NPP government’s performance than just a vote for an MP in Parliament.

“The real work is recapturing power in the 2024 election, which for me is what this victory signifies,” he said in an interview broadcast on Joy FM.

Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost the election for a seat in parliament to James Gyakye Quayson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who received 17,245 votes (57.56 percent) to Opoku’s 12,630 votes (42.15); Sefenu Bernice Enyonam of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) received 87 votes (0.29 percent).

The result in Assin North, he argues, demonstrates that Ghanaians are growing weary of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration.

“They are tired of the abuse of the public purse; they are tired of the hardships and the economic collapse we are witnessing under the failed Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government, and that change is coming, and change will arrive on December 7, 2024,” Sammy Gyamfi stated.
