Chef Faila Recounts How Ibrahim Mahama Came To Her Rescue When She Was A Nobody

After spending an unprecedented 225 hours in the kitchen, striving to secure the coveted title of the longest marathon individual, Failatu Abdul Razak’s journey to the top has been captured in a shared throwback video.

In a podcast held in 2023, Faila recounted her experiences with Ibrahim Mahama, the billionaire brother of former president John Dramani Mahama, and this new development has added another aura to entertainment in Ghana.

It was revealed that Faila initially pursued a music career but struggled to gain recognition in the mainstream, both in the Northern Region and beyond. She disclosed her humble background, lacking the financial means to invest in her career, until someone told her Ibrahim Mahama was in town lodging in one of the luxury hotels.

During the podcast, Faila recounted the fascinating series of events that led to her encounter with Mahama, filled with both humour and sincerity, leaving the other guests in the studio in fits of laughter.

Ultimately, Faila shared that Ibrahim Mahama generously provided her with financial support to boost her career.

She emphasized that this act of kindness from the business mogul has left an indelible mark in her memory, as it was truly remarkable for someone of his stature to lend an ear to an ordinary girl like her and offer financial assistance after hearing her story.

The video has been gaining traction due to her remarkable performance in the cookathon, which garnered immense support from the entire nation of Ghana and also caught the attention of the international community.

Commencing on January 1, she initially planned to conclude the marathon on the sixth day. However, she decided to extend it to the 10th day to ensure that no one else could surpass her record.

With an impressive total of 227 hours logged, Faila easily surpassed the current record set by Irish Chef Alan Fisher (119 hours and 57 minutes). However, the official confirmation from Guinness World Records is still pending.

Driven by her unwavering determination and culinary expertise, she persevered and extended the marathon until January 10th.
