Davido Announces New Album After Son’s Death

Weeks after going off social media following the sad demise of his only son, Afrobeat superstar Davido has given his legions of fans something to cheer about after he surfaced to announce the completion of his next studio album, Timeless.

Davido released an announcement film in which he discussed the events of the previous year as well as the preparation for the album.

Also expressing gratitude was everyone who supported and loved him while he was gone. The Afrobeat singer admitted that he genuinely values all of the messages, gifts, and concerts that have been given in his honour.

Davido also mentioned that there is a time and place for everything, including laughing, dancing, grieving, healing, speaking, and remaining quiet. He poetically announced his return to social media and his forthcoming album writing;

“There is a time for everything. A time to Grieve and a time to Heal. A time to Laugh and a time to Dance. A time to Speak and A Time for Silence.

Thank you to everyone out there for your love and support that has held me down. All the love and messages while I was away, the gifts sent, the concerts you all threw! I appreciate it all.

Today, I want to remind you all that what is now Timeless, was once new. It’s time for new. My next album TIMELESS is here, March 31st. Pre-save link in bio”

Davido’s son Ifeanyi Adeleke Jnr drowned in a private swimming pool at the family’s residence in Lagos on 31st October 2023.

“The boy was inside water for too long and they pulled him out and rushed him to the hospital. By the time they rushed him to Lagoon Hospital it was already too late,” a family source revealed to the media.

Davido has halted his music business and removed himself from social media as a result of the sad news. But after learning that he would be appearing at the 2022 Qatar World Cup’s closing ceremony in Doha, Davido made an unusual return to social media.
