Lionel Messi Ties With Cristiano Ronaldo On Goals In Europe’s Top Five Leagues

After scoring his 696th goal in one of Europe’s top five leagues, Lionel Messi is now tied with Cristiano Ronaldo for the most goals scored in a single season.

On January 11, 2019, the Argentine superstar scored the second goal for PSG in their victory over Angers, which resulted in a 2-0 victory for his team.

Ronaldo is now ahead of Messi by five goals on 701 total club goals, having scored five for Sporting Lisbon at the beginning of his career.

All of Messi’s goals have been scored for either Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain, and he has played 778 times for Barcelona. It indicates that he reached the total of 696 points in 86 fewer games than his rival did.

Ronaldo scored 450 goals for Real Madrid, 101 goals for Juventus, and 27 more goals for Manchester United before he was fired in an awful manner. Ronaldo scored 118 goals for Manchester United during his first stint with the club.

Messi is expected to maintain the form that helped Argentina qualify for the World Cup and capitalize on the numerous scoring opportunities he will have in France. This season, he has scored 13 goals in 20 appearances, with eight of those goals coming in Ligue 1.

It was Messi’s first game after the World Cup, and he played the entire match for Christophe Galtier’s team.

Ronaldo is currently under contract with the Saudi Arabian team, Al Nassr, for the next two years.
