My Diss Song to Daddy Lumba Will Come At The Right Time, ‘Onyame Akatua’ is Not That Song- Great Ampong

Great Ampong has denied reports that his newly released track, dubbed “Onyame Akatua,” is not the much-anticipated diss track he promised to release.

Clarifying his posture in a fresh interview with Power FM, the veteran gospel artiste said that Lumba is not the target of his song but promised that the diss song will come at the right time. Ampong said the mere fact that he never mentioned Lumba’s name in the song shows that he never aimed the track at him.

He stated;

I can compose a song and have his name in it because I have composed songs for people. Some people approach me to compose songs for their dead relatives and I do. I take the deceased’s name and details and then compose the song. I could have mentioned his name and the song was more than three to four minutes long but you never heard any name.

His statement, however, goes contrary to what he previously said on Happy FM, where he stated authoritatively that he has composed a song in response to Daddy Lumba’s recent “Ofon Na Ɛdi Asɛm Fo” song.

“I said I was going to compose a song, and he will hear from me, but this isn’t the song. I am not backtracking on my words. Did I mention his name when I wrote a song for Nana Addo Dankwa? When you listened to my song, did you hear anyone’s name in it? I am telling you the time for me to compose the song for him (Daddy Lumba) hasn’t come,”

he added in this new interview.

Additionally, he claimed that he hardly ever listens to the interviews he conducts with media organizations and that he is unable to recall the specifics of the interview he conducted with Happy FM.

“In my Happy FM interview, I don’t remember what I said until I listen to it. I haven’t sat down to listen to the interview. Even my songs, when I record them, I don’t listen to them again,”

he disclosed.

The professional and personal relationship between the two musicians, who collaborated on a handful of songs after forming a group known as Kwadwo Kwadwo, became frosty after Ampong accused Lumba of swindling him out of money accrued from their joint album.
