Sista Afia Vent Spleen On TGMA Organisers Over Constant Snub
Songstress Sista Afia has expressed her frustration towards the organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) for consistently overlooking her despite her hard work.
Feeling disrespected over the years, Afia took to social media to question if she had offended any of the board members who are responsible for making the decisions.
She highlighted the incident in 2021 when her popular hit Asuoden was disregarded, despite its success in the music industry at that time.
Furthermore, she couldn’t comprehend why some artistes who failed to submit their works were nominated in categories, while those who submitted received no nominations.
Through this message, she inadvertently implied the existence of certain cartels among the board members who show favouritism towards specific musicians, ensuring their nomination regardless of the quality of their songs.
She wrote: “Have I offended someone at the high table Ghana Music Awards? The fact that Asuoden was a big song in 2021 had Zero nominations which I still don’t get. I learned people don’t even file for nominations but get nominations.
The downplay on my efforts ever since I started doing music in Ghana hasn’t been fair to my craft and yes, it hurts because I work so hard. I’ve been quiet for so long because I have respect for the scheme and I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes!”
