Tory Lanez Releases Statement After Receiving 10-Year Sentence
Tory Lanez, who was sentenced to ten years for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot, insists that he is innocent.
The American rapper claims he was falsely accused and sentenced to prison, and he remains unwavering in his unwillingness “to apologize for something that I did not do.”
Tory Lanez was convicted of a number of charges, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a concealed and loaded firearm in a vehicle, and the careless discharge of a firearm. After a pool party in the Hollywood Hills in July 2020, Tory allegedly shot at Megan Thee Stallion, wounding her feet.
The punishment was given to 31-year-old Lanez on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Herriford. Lanez was found guilty of three felonies: assault with a semiautomatic pistol, possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm in a motor vehicle, and grossly negligent discharge of a firearm.
During the sentencing hearing, Herriford stated that it was “difficult to reconcile” Lanez’s actions as the shooter with the kind, charitable, and decent parent that so many witnesses had portrayed him as being.
Megan Thee Stallion testified that Lanez fired the gun at the back of her feet and shouted for her to dance as she walked away from an SUV in which they had been riding in July 2020 after leaving a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood Hills home.
She had to have surgery to remove bullet fragments. Lanez has released a heartfelt statement in which he addresses the conviction and maintains his innocence.
