Tory Lanez Jailed 10 Years For Megan Thee Stallion Shooting

After a pool party in the Hollywood Hills in July 2020, Tory allegedly shot at Megan Thee Stallion, wounding her feet.

The punishment was given to 31-year-old Lanez on Tuesday by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Herriford. Lanez was found guilty of three felonies: assault with a semiautomatic pistol, possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm in a motor vehicle, and grossly negligent discharge of a firearm.

During the sentencing hearing, Herriford stated that it was “difficult to reconcile” Lanez’s actions as the shooter and the kind, charitable, and decent parent that so many witnesses had portrayed him as being.

“Sometimes good people do bad things,” Herriford said.

“Actions have consequences, and there are no winners in this case.”

Megan Thee Stallion testified that Lanez fired the gun at the back of her feet and shouted for her to dance as she walked away from an SUV in which they had been riding in July 2020, after leaving a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood Hills home.

She had to have surgery to remove bullet fragments.

“Since I was viciously shot by the defendant, I have not experienced a single day of peace,” Megan Thee Stallion said in a statement read by a prosecutor on Monday.

“Slowly but surely, I’m healing and coming back, but I will never be the same,” she said. The sentence puts an end to a contentious trial that sparked a cultural uproar in the hip-hop scene and raised issues such as Black victims’ reluctance to contact the police, gender politics in hip-hop, online toxicity, protecting Black women, and the effects of misogynoir, a specific type of misogyny experienced by Black women. Just as the judge was about to pronounce his verdict, Lanez begged Herriford for forgiveness. Lanez asked for probation or a brief period behind bars.

“If I could turn back the series of events that night and change them”, I would, Lanez said. “The victim was my friend. The victim is someone I still care for to this day.”

He added: “Everything I did wrong that night, I take full responsibility for.”While the sentence was being read, Lanez seemed astounded but made no audible response. After the verdict, his loved ones and supporters in the courtroom likewise stayed silent. The rapper received credit for nearly ten months of time served since his sentencing in December.
